My dad
My father is a very crafty man. I talk about my mom often, about how she helps me and the things she teaches me. But I must say that my dad is also very gifted! His mom was a dressmaker and one day her husband (my grandfather) made her a special support so she could keep her threads in places (she was very tidy!). When she died, my parents kept her sewing machine (which is beautiful!) and a number of sewing related objects, including the thread support. I think it’s a beautiful piece and very special since it was handmade by my grandfather. I never knew my grandfather that well, since he died when I was 9 years old, and spent his last years very very sick. But I know that he loved me deeply (I was his first grandchild)…
When I went to Portugal for Christmas, my dad gave the most wonderful gift: a thread support, a beautiful replica of the one my grandfather made! This one was handmade by MY father so it’s super special to me. It was a nightmare to fit everything in my luggage, but I couldn’t leave my beautiful present! Isn’t it beautiful? I love it!

oh Joy || Alegria
Last week was the final week of my Post-Doc project. I just loved this year so much: I learned a lot (I had a dramatic change in terms of area o expertise) and the experience was very positive. Sometimes was really hard to do all my work in English, but it was a great challenge. I still don’t know for sure what the future will bring me (in terms of job), but I’m positive about it. Anyway, my colleagues had a surprise for me: while we were having tea and cake, they gave me a super cute card (with lovely messages inside!) and some presents! I felt overwhelmed and very touched, it was a very emotional moment to me. And the presents were amazing ( you could see them in the photo)… I felt that my colleagues really took the time to choose something they knew I was going to love, and that means a lot to me! I’m a lucky girl!
A semana passada foi a última semana do meu projecto de Pós-doc. Esta experiência foi fantástica, muito positiva e aprendi imenso (já que fiz uma grande mudança em termos de àrea de investigação). Por vezes foi difícil e cansativo ter que fazer todo o trabalho em Inglês, mas foi também um grande desafio. Ainda não sei o que me vai trazer o futuro, mas continuo positiva. Na minha última semana as minhas colegas tinham uma surpresa para mim: enquanto tomávamos chá e comiamos bolinho, deram-me um postal (cheio de dedicatórias bonitas!) e presentes! Senti-me mesmo muito emocionada!! E os presentes eram fantásticos (vejam a foto)… foi bonito que elas tivessem tirado tempo para escolher coisas que sabiam que eu ia gostar e isso tem imenso valor para mim! Sou sortuda!
