My sister was were and I just had to enjoy her company. It was lovely to spend so much quality time with her. We went for walks, chatted endlessly and cooked together. While she played and read to Enzo, I had time to make apple and red fruit jam and a new mobile for the baby. Maybe I get to knit during the cold weekend ahead… enjoy yours!

Não há grandes progressos na mantinha, já que estive ocupada com outras coisas. A minha irmã esteve cá e eu tinha mesmo que aproveitar a companhia dela. Foi tão bom passar tanto tempo com ela. Passeámos, conversámos muito e cozinhámos juntas. Enquanto ela brincava e lia ao Enzo eu tive tempo para fazer compota de maçã e frutos vermelhos e um mobile novo para o bebé. Quem sabe não terei tempo para tricotar um pouco durante o frio fim-de-semana que se avizinha… aproveitem o vosso!

It helped tremendously that Enzo seems to enjoy watching me knitting (he looks quite intrigued!)! I can knit about 4 rows before we starts to feel bored (that’s 480 stitches, not bad). Foi uma semana boa e consegui andar para a frente com a mantinha de bebé. O que ajudou imenso foi descobrir que o Enzo gosta de olhar para mim a tricotar (fica com um ar tão intrigado!)! Consigo tricotar umas 4 carreiras antes dele ficar aborrecido (são umas 480 malhas, nada mau). Vamos ver como corre a próxima semana. Bom fim-de-semana!

Don’t get me wrong, I do a lot of stuff throughout my day (a LOT of stuff!) but have very little time to myself and my things. One of my goals for 2012 is trying to be more productive and utilise better the little free time I have. I believe that by sharing the projects I’m doing with you I will be able to keep myself motivated and move forwards with the tasks. What do you think of my plan?

I’ve started a new knitting project this week, I’m making a new blanket for Enzo. Making blankets it’s really time consuming, so I’m not expecting to finish this project any time soon. But, I’m expecting to finish it some day :) I will be sharing weekly photos of the blanket, so you (and I) can see how it’s progressing. This was yesterday:

Ser produtiva é um desafio para mim nos dias que correm. Não é que não tenha os dias ocupados e não faça muita coisa (faço mesmo muita coisa!), mas tenho muito pouco tempo para mim e para as minhas coisas. Um dos meus objectivos para 2012 é ser mais produtiva e utilizar melhor o pouco tempo livre que vou tendo. Acredito que se for partilhando com vocês os projectos que tenho em mãos vou conseguir manter-me entusiasmada e andar com eles para a frente. O que é que acham do meu plano?

Esta semana comecei a tricotar uma mantinha para o Enzo. Tricotar mantas (mesmo as de bebés) leva mesmo muito tempo e por isso não espero acabar este projecto num futuro próximo. Mas, espero acabá-lo um dia :) Vou mostrar-vos uma fotografia da mantinha todas as semanas, para que possam acompanhar o progresso (e eu também!). A fotografia foi tirada ontem.

Recapitulando a segunda metade do meu 2011!

July – July was not a good month: out of nowhere I was admitted in hospital and told myself and the baby were at risk and that I would have to stay there until I delivered the baby (which was estimated to be in early September!!). This was probably the hardest test to my patience and not the way I forecast the last months of my pregnancy. But, before being admitted into hospital I made a bunny for my unborn baby, yay!

Julho – Julho não foi um mês bom: sem que nada fizésse adivinhar fui internada no hospital e disseram-me que tanto eu como o bebé estávamos em perigo. Também me disseram que teria que ficar no hospital até ter o bebé (que era suposto nascer no início de Setembro!!) o que foi provavemente o teste mais duro à minha paciência. Não foi esta a forma como antecipei passar os últimos meses da gravidez. Mas, antes de ser internada fiz um coelhinho para o bebé que estava para nascer, yuppi!

August - The most important month and day of the year: I gave birth to our baby boy on the 11th and I became Enzo’s Mum. Still can not quite believe i, it is so amazing. Enzo was born prematurely and with very low birth weight (he was the tiniest baby I have ever seen) so I spent the rest of the month traveling to hospital to be with him, before we finally brought him home. This photo is very special: Enzo was 2 days old and it was the first time I was able to properly hold my son. It was also the first time he breastfeed. Can you see that look it my face? After being told that Enzo was so tiny he probably would not have the energy to breastfeed he actually feed strait away! I could not be happier!

Agosto - O mês e dia mais importantes do ano: a 11 de Agosto nasceu o nosso bebé e tornei-me na mãe no Enzo. É algo tão especial para mim que às vezes ainda não parece real! O Enzo nasceu prematuro e com muito pouco peso (era o bebé mais pequeno que algum dia eu tinha visto) e eu passei o resto do mês a caminho do hospital para estar com ele, até que finalmente pudemos trazê-lo para casa. Esta fotografia é muito especial: o Enzo tinha 2 dias e foi a primeira vez em que pude pegar no meu filho a sério. Também foi a primeira vez que o amamentei. Conseguem ver a expressão na minha cara? Após me terem dito que o Enzo era tão pequeno que era provável não ter energia para mamar ele mamou de imediato! Eu não podia estar mais feliz!

September – The Autumn arrived and there was nothing else in my life besides taking care of Enzo!

Setembro - O Outono chegou e na minha vida não cabia mais nada para além de cuidar do Enzo!

October – I’ve showed you a little blanked I’ve made for Enzo and included a tutorial.

Outubro - Mostrei uma mantinha que fiz para o Enzo, incluindo as instruções de como a fazer.

November - Still no time to craft, but I manage to make a felt pouch for my brand new Iphone!

Novembro – Não há tempo para craftar, mas consigo fazer uma bolsa para o meu novo Iphone!

December – It was Enzo’s first Christmas and we spent a wonderful time with our families. By Christmas Enzo was no longer a newborn and was able to enjoy the moment with his family. He was also quite keen on wrapping paper :) Oh babies, how adorable!

Dezembro - O primeiro Natal do Enzo e que dias óptimos passámos nós com as nossas famílias. No Natal o Enzo já não era um recém-nascido e por isso adorou o tempo que passou com a família. Também mostrou um grande interesse por papel de embrulho :) Ai os bebés, são adoráveis!

Extreme emotions I would say. But lets start from the beginning, shall we?

Eu sei que já estamos a 18 de Janeiro, mas acho que é uma altura tão boa como qualquer outra para reflectir sobre o ano que passou e traçar objectivos para o ano que agora começa. 2011 foi, sem qualquer dúvida, um ano muito intenso. De emoções extremas atrevo-me a dizer. Mas vamos lá começar desde o princípio, ok?

January - The year could not have started in a better way: one week into the new year and I learnt I was pregnant! There could not have been a better news, this was a much wanted baby!

Janeiro - O ano não podia ter começado de uma maneira melhor: uma semana depois do ano começar e descobri que estava grávida! Não poderia ter tido uma notícia melhor, este era um bebé muito desejado!

February – I started planning the garden for the year ahead. Had to keep everything inside since it was freezing outside!

Fevereiro – Comecei a planear e tratar da horta. Tive que manter todas as sementeiras dentro de casa já que estava tudo gelado lá fora!

March - I renovated our pantry which was looking rather sad and boring. Now it’s bright, organised and lovely!

Março - A dispensa foi alvo de mudanças, já que tinha uma ar triste e feioso. Agora está mais luminosa, organizada e bonita!

April – One of the highlights of April was starting to make crafts for my sister’s wedding, after months of research, planning and sourcing for the right materials. Talk about special crafts ah?

Abril - Um dos destaques de Abril foi ter começado a fazer crafts para o casamento da minha irmã, depois de meses pesquisa, planeamento e busca dos materiais certos. Isto sim são crafts especiais!

May – April, May and June were wonderful months to enjoy my pregnancy. I loved being pregnant (I miss it a lot to be honest) and truly enjoyed having a bump! I apologise for the overdose of photos, but I just can’t help it :)

Maio – Abril, Maio e Junho foram meses fantásticos para disfrutar da gravidez. Gostei mesmo muito de estar grávida (tenho muitas saudades de estar grávida) e adorei ter um barriga! As minhas desculpas pela overdose de fotos, mas não consigo controlar-me :)


June – This was my sister’s month, the month she got married. A beautiful day, full of smiles and happiness! In June I also sew some bibs for the baby.

Junho – Este foi o mês da minha irmã, o mês em que ela se casou. Um dia lindo, cheio de sorrisos e muito feliz! Em Junho também costurei uns quantos babetes para o bebé.

My head spins with so many ideas and I end up buying new supplies in the hope that I will find the time to use them. These were my latest purchases: Japanese fabrics and some super cute ribbons.

Embora mal consiga dar conta das tarefas mais básicas do dia-a-dia (cuidar de um bebé não é fácil!), continuo a imaginar que tenho imenso tempo para os crafts. A minha cabeça fervilha com ideias e acabo por comprar novos materiais na esperança de encontrar tempo para os usar. Estas foram as últimas compras: tecidos Japoneses e umas quantas fitinhas giras.

Then I remembered that the first issue of Mollie Makes came with a kit to make a smartphone pouch. Unfortunately the kit didn’t have enough felt for the design they suggest so I decided to make it my way. Turns out, I like it a lot!

Recebi um telemóvel novo (e lindo) como prenda de anos e decidi fazer uma capinha protectora. Foi então que me lembrei que o primeiro número da revista Mollie Makes incluia um kit para fazer uma dessas capas. Infelizmente o dito kit não trazia feltro suficiente para fazer o design sugerido, por isso decidi fazer a bolsa à minha maneira. E sabem que mais? Gosto imenso do resultado!

Lately I’ve been making some new bibs. The weather is getting cold so I thought I might as well use the conservatory before it gets way too cold. This is my works space at the moment, I feel inspired and very relaxed here.

O Enzo não é um grande fã de sestas, mas durante as poucas que ele faz eu tento aproveitar bem esse tempo. Ultimamente comecei a fazer mais babetes para ele. O tempo está a ficar frio e por isso pensei que seria melhor usufruir da conservatory/marquise antes que fique muito fria. Por isso este é o aspecto do meu pequeno local de trabalho, sinto-me inspirada e muito relaxada aqui.
